What happens when an Indian Parent comes to know that their teenage (15-20yr) kid is in "love" or "dating" someone??
All hell breaks loose.!!!
There is a lot of drama - anger, blame game, guilt... a tug of war between parents which cascades out onto the child.
And if the child in question is the daughter of the house, the reaction is a thousand times higher.

Sadly modern day "Teenagers" have a very short patience span and very high anger quotient. They find it difficult to take the anger of the parents, and may land up committing stupid acts.
here are 10 tips that can help you face such a situation -
Keep Calm -
1. When you hear such a news, try not to react. Keep your mouth closed. Take a deep breath, and let the initial wave of anger pass away.
2. When you talk, stay as calm as possible.
Even if your inner-self wants to scream.. remember its your child.
Don't blame
Rather than blaming and guilt finding Try to understanding the child's feelings. In 99% probability he/she has an infatuation which they call "love". Take time to understand them.
Ask and understand their feelings
Start by asking them how it happened and what feelings he/she has.
5. Find out if the other childs parents know about this.
Explain about relationship
6. Don't put the blame on anyone or make anyone the enemy. Making him/her the enemy could cause a rift that becomes impossible to reconcile.
7. Help her understand that he/she is very young and don't have the experience of handling a tough decision like being in a "relationship".
Don't dump your views
8. Don’t force your views, but be very open to talk about sex and sexual experimentation. A open talk at this stage and save a lot of troubles later.
9. If after your talk he/she decides to remain in the relationship, then you need to ask them the plan. Its also important to be careful about their movements as in the spurt of the moment they might end up doing something stupid.
Standing along your child gives you chance of being a buffer in case of a break-up.

If you need help
10. Don't Talk to the entire world about this issue, and if its giving you a lot of stress.. talk to a confidant or a counsellor.
